Social Experimentation in Action
Social Experimentation in Action Conference
organized by J-PAL Europe and hosted by the European Economic and Social Committee
Brussels, Belgium • May 18, 2011
The European Union’s platform against poverty and social exclusion proposes encouraging innovation in social policy, in order to develop successful solutions for post-crisis Europe. To this end, the initiative will rely on social experimentation to test and empirically evaluate the programs financed within the framework of the platform.
Evelyne Pichenot, a Member of the French Economic, Social, and Environmental Council, Section for European and International Affairs, welcomed participants to the conference, which presented the general principles and practicalities of running this kind of evaluation, and also discussed various challenges with participants.
