Hidden Identities and Labor Market Discrimination - Evidence from Brazil
This study investigates how implicit biases influence hiring decisions and whether individuals from minority groups choose to conceal aspects of their identity to avoid discrimination. Through a randomized controlled trial (RCT), researchers will assess whether public information campaigns featuring successful minority role models can shift employer perceptions and reduce discriminatory hiring practices. The project will also explore the extent to which minority job seekers strategically hide markers of their identity, such as regional accents or personal background, and how this behavior impacts career opportunities.
