Nour Shammout

Associate Director, ADEPT, J-PAL Global

Nour Shammout is the Associate Director for the Alliance for Data, Evaluation, and Policy

Training (ADEPT) at J-PAL Global. In this role, she is helping to establish and activate a

global network of institutions dedicated to empowering the next generation of students,

researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to innovate, test, and scale effective policies that

improve lives worldwide.

Nour’s experience spans international organizations, the private sector, and government.

Before rejoining J-PAL, she served as Deputy Director of the Economic Directorate at the

Office of His Majesty King Abdullah II, where she led a team focused on setting the strategic

vision for Jordan’s economic policy and worked closely with government agencies to design

economic policies and programs. Her background also includes roles at the World Bank, the

International Labour Organization (ILO), and various positions within the Jordanian

government, where she contributed to multiple strategic initiatives.

In the private sector, Nour was a Senior Economist at Strategy & Management Consulting

firm in the UAE, where she established and led a unit focused on evidence and impact

evaluation, advising a range of public and private sector clients.

Nour holds a master of public policy and a master of urban planning from the University of

Michigan, as well as a bachelor degree in manufacturing engineering from Boston University.
