Ahmed Shaaban is a Research Associate at J-PAL Middle East and North Africa, where he works on evaluating the impact of providing women with volunteering opportunities on female labor force participation in Sohag, the second poorest governorate in Egypt.
Prior to joining J-PAL in 2023, he worked as an Economic Researcher at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in the Labor Market Policies unit. Ahmed holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Cairo University.
