James Robinson is a University Professor of political science at the University of Chicago and the Reverend Dr. Richard L. Pearson Professor of Global Conflict Studies. His research focuses on political economy, comparative politics, and economic and political development. He has conducted fieldwork in multiple countries, including Bolivia, Colombia, Haiti, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. He received the 2024 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. James received his PhD from Yale University.
