Jess Qvist

Jess is a Research Associate working on education-related research projects at J-PAL Africa. She also works in the Education team at the Research on Socio-Economic Policy (RESEP) group at Stellenbosch University.

Jess holds a BCom (Politics, Philosophy and Economics), a BCom (Honours) in Economics and a MEd (Leadership and Policy) from the University of the Witwatersrand. She won the prestigious 2020 ESSA Founders' Medal for the best Honours paper in Economics. In her paper, she explored the relationship between parental involvement and Grade 9 mathematics marks in South Africa.
