Brendan Maughan-Brown

Brendan Maughan-Brown is the Research Advisor at J-PAL Africa where he provides strategic leadership and management oversight to the research division. His role involves developing new research opportunities for J-PAL researchers, developing administrative data capabilities at J-PAL Africa, and exploring opportunities for administrative data use in randomised evaluations in South Africa.

Brendan also serves as a Chief Research Officer at the Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit, University of Cape Town, where he conducts public health research, with a focus on HIV.

Brendan holds a PhD in economics from the University of Cape Town.
