Anchored by a network of more than 1,000 researchers at universities around the world, J-PAL conducts randomized impact evaluations to answer critical questions in the fight against poverty.

Our affiliated professors are based at over 120 universities and conduct randomized evaluations around the world to design, evaluate, and improve programs and policies aimed at reducing poverty. They set their own research agendas, raise funds to support their evaluations, and work with J-PAL staff on research, policy outreach, and training.

Marc Gurgand is the Scientific Director of J-PAL Europe, a Senior Researcher at the CNRS, an IZA Research Fellow, and a Professor at the Paris School of Economics (PSE) and at the Ecole Normale Supérieure-Paris Sciences et Lettres (ENS-PSL). His research focuses on social and education policies, with a strong emphasis on randomized control trials. He has published numerous articles in labor economics and economics of education in international academic journals.
Marc has served as a lecturer at J-PAL training events and on the review boards of J-PAL's European Social Inclusion Initiative (ESII) and Post-Primary Education Initiative (PPE).
