Suresh de Mel is a professor in economics at the University of Peradeniya. His research focuses on small-scale enterprises in Sri Lanka. This includes examining the rate of return to capital, post-disaster recovery processes, the relationship between economic health and mental health, the effect of formal registration on the performance of informal enterprises, the effect of business training on female-run microenterprises, and the growth dynamics of microenterprises following labor, capital, and human capital interventions. Suresh received his PhD in economics from American University.
