Matias Bertranou Dammert

Matias Bertranou is a Senior Research Associate at J-PAL LAC, where he works on experimental evaluations on microfinance under the guidance of Natalia Rigol and Ben Roth in collaboration with Fondo Esperanza. Matias is interested in the social and solidarity economy, cooperatives, and alternative economies, focused on the role research can play to foster innovations in our daily economic practices.

Before joining J-PAL in 2023, he served as a project manager and researcher at Mapocho, leading initiatives related to platform cooperatives and developing novel methodologies for collective entrepreneurship. Matias holds a BSc in Economics from Universidad de Chile
