J-PAL South Asia Values

Our values are our guiding stars. They reflect who we are. They are what we stand for. 

We always knew that we wanted J-PAL South Asia to be an inclusive and caring workplace, where creativity flourishes and everyone is treated with respect and dignity. Our vision gradually developed into a set of moral codes as we grew from being a motley group of researchers to an organization with more than 230 full-time staff working across India. 

Each J-PAL South Asia team member embodies these values and has contributed to shaping them.

Our Values

Integrity: We believe in adhering to the highest standards of ethics through fairness, honesty, and transparency in our decisions, actions, and communication.

Respect: Acknowledge, value, and seek diversity in identities, backgrounds, experiences, cultures, and beliefs—within our staff, partners, and the communities in which we live and work.

Responsibility and accountability: We believe we have a duty towards ourselves, the organization, our partners, the communities in which we live and work, and our mission. To fulfill these duties, we must persevere to meet our commitments to the best of our abilities and hold ourselves responsible and accountable.

Rigor: We approach our work systematically, thoughtfully, and with attention to detail. Our processes and actions are informed by the best available evidence to ensure outputs of the highest quality. 

Care: We believe in encouraging, supporting, and nurturing the inherent value of each individual and facilitating their capacity to perform at their fullest potential.
