Our affiliated professors are based at over 120 universities and conduct randomized evaluations around the world to design, evaluate, and improve programs and policies aimed at reducing poverty. They set their own research agendas, raise funds to support their evaluations, and work with J-PAL staff on research, policy outreach, and training.

Capacity Building Manager, J-PAL Middle East and North Africa
Yomna El-Awamri is a Capacity Building Manager at J-PAL Middle East and North Africa, where she leads the Training and Education Vertical with the aim of spreading the culture of impact evaluation in the region by building the capacities of policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and more. Prior to joining J-PAL in 2023, she served as the CEO of The Carbon Impact Lab, a social enterprise dedicated to creating a sustainable future by driving climate change efforts in the Middle East and Africa, and Adjunct Faculty at the Graduate Program for Sustainable Development at the American University in Cairo. Yomna's career path led her to significant roles in respected organizations, including Misr El-Kheir Foundation and the American University in Cairo, where she played pivotal roles in leading international and local projects focused on education and sustainable development.
Yomna holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Cairo University's Faculty of Economics and Political Science and a Master’s in Sustainable Development from the American University in Cairo.
