Teachers at Work: Preventing Social Exclusion of Immigrants
This study aims to foster social acceptance of immigrant kids among native students and teachers, and to prevent social exclusion of minority groups. We will evaluate the impact of two innovative interventions, implemented in around 150 elementary schools in Finland thanks to the collaboration with a local NGO (Walter) managed by present, or former, Finnish professional athletes and artists with diverse ethnic backgrounds. The first intervention will target kids directly with the goal of promoting intercultural interactions in the classroom. The second intervention will focus on training native teachers by sharing with them the tools to foster communication and reduce discrimination in their classroom.
