Workers’ Safety in Brazil
Work-related safety concerns are high in emerging economies and limited governmental resources are scarce to make sure firms comply with the rules in place. The research team measures the impact of traditional safety visits by work inspectors and compares it with both informative online training sessions and a combination of the former two on outcomes such as workers’ wages and well-being, especially mental health. This would provide us with the first experimental measurement of the impact of safety visits in a developing country and allow us to compare it to a lower-cost type of intervention.
