Social and Economic Integration of Refugees in Jordanian Communities

This study aims to improve the livelihoods and economic inclusion of Syrian refugees in Jordan while reducing tensions with Jordanian nationals. By embedding a randomized controlled trial (RCT) in cash-for-work (CfW) programs implemented by the Jordanian Ministry of Local Administration and UNESCO, the research explores the effects of varying the proportion of Syrians and Jordanians in work teams and providing unbiased information about the "outgroup." The study measures the impact on stereotypes, social norms, trust, productivity, income, and future employment opportunities. The goal is to see if teamwork and direct information provision can reduce prejudice and improve economic outcomes for both groups.
