Meritocratic processes and the selection of school principals
Meritocratic procedures may attract more qualified candidates, but they might also overlook important interpersonal skills. This project aims to understand the underlying mechanisms that make meritocratic selection systems more effective, considering selection processes in the education sector in Brazil. Specifically, the study plans an experiment in partnership with Vetor Brasil to assess the impact of introducing a test in socioemotional skills during the selection of school principals, investigating how this could affect both the quality of principals and student performance.
