Improving Ghana’s National Health Insurance Biometric Card Renewals: A Randomised Control Trial Using Reminders and Moving Renewal Dates
The aim of the pilot study is to examine how the implementation of the mobile money renewal service by the NHIS can be improved and made more effective and efficient. Specifically, the study would: 1. Determine the most appropriate form of reminder systems for subscribers to renew their subscriptions; 2. Find out whether mobile money reminders reduce the incidence of out of pocket payments by NHIS subscribers in health facilities; 3. Explore the feasibility of subscribers renewing their subscriptions in February every year; and 4. Examine whether the effect of reminders and NHIS renewals vary according to gender and COVID19 exposure.
