Exploring Digital Learning Product for Early Years Foundational Stage Learners in Nigeria

The project aims to conduct an exploratory study on a digital foundational literacy and numeracy product for early years’ foundational stage (children aged 18-60 months) learners developed by their partner organization. Wunderkind Smart Learners (WSL) is a mobile app developed by their partner organization, Royal Wunderkind Network Ltd in Nigeria. The mobile app is at the proof of concept stage and is being rolled out to individual and school-based subscription packages. The researchers will use this proposal development grant to formalize the partnership with the program-implementing organization by signing a research agreement to help reinforce the partnership and advance efforts for implementing randomized control trial studies in the future. They will randomly interview 200 parents or caregivers to conduct an exploratory study on the product to understand the context
further.

This effort is expected to help the partner organization adapt the product further based on the feedback gathered, which is essential to enhance functionality and access to the product. This effort will help the research and program implementing team to be positioned for the project's next phase. In the next phase, schools will be the unit of randomization,
and pupils in the assigned schools will be assessed to understand the impact of Wunderkind Smart Learners (WSL).
