Associate Director of Policy, J-PAL África

Teresa Lezcano Cadwallader is the Associate Director of Policy at J-PAL Africa, where she leads the team in its efforts to bridge research and policy to inform policy design, scale effective solutions, and drive evidence-based strategies for poverty reduction across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Prior to this role, Teresa was a Senior Policy Manager at J-PAL and worked in the Digital Identification and Finance Initiative in Africa (DigiFI). She also worked as a Research Manager at Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) in Kenya, where she worked on the Universal Basic Income (UBI) experiment as well as other impact evaluations on digital finance and social protection. Teresa previously worked for Transparency International and the Alliance for Campaign Finance Monitoring in Uganda. She is also a co-founder of an NGO in western Uganda. 

Teresa holds an MSc in Policy and International Development from the London School of Economics and a BA in African History and African Studies from SOAS, University of London.
