Summary of the Organization

The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) was established in 2003 as a research center at the Economics Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Since then, it has grown into a global network of researchers who conduct randomized evaluations to test and improve the effectiveness of programs and policies aimed at reducing poverty.

Summary of the Role:

J-PAL MENA, based at the AUC, collaborates with two J-PAL invited researchers from the (University of Minnesota) as the Principal Investigators (PIs), conducting an impact evaluation of Correlation One training, career coaching, and job placement program in Jordan over a little more than three years. Correlation One is a US-based company specializing in developing data and digital skills. Their training, coaching, and job matching program is conducted remotely and targets unemployed and underemployed youth. Correlation One will train 4,000 Jordanians, who are 50.0% Males and 50.0% Females and aged between 18-40 years. The training program will especially help women access job opportunities in Jordan and globally through remote work 

Responsibilities 

  • Oversee field research activities, including the implementation of the evaluation by contracted survey firms, according to the research design and in coordination with partners. 
  • Conduct training for survey enumerators on data collection methods and protocols. 
  • Supervise data collection processes and ensure quality of the data. 
  • Provide regular project updates to the project manager and the Principal Investigators (PIs). 
  • Assist in planning and executing outreach activities.

Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience in development or related fields (Experience with dealing with data collection firms and enumerators is a plus). 
  • Proficient in report writing and documentation. 
  • Excellent computer skills ( Microsoft Office Word, Excel and powerpoint) Gmail and Google calendar is a necessity. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively. 
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with team members. 
  • Good attention to details and robust follow up capabilities.
