The "Innovations, Data, and Experiments in Education" (IDEE) programme is an initiative designed to advance experimental research in education in France. The programme brings together six major research institutions (Université Paris Sciences et Lettres, Paris School of Economics, Sciences Po Paris, Université Grenoble Alpes, the French Atomic Energy Commission, and CNRS) and is supported by the French National Research Agency (ANR) for a total duration of eight years.

The IDEE programme is structured around three core objectives:

• Facilitating researcher access to administrative data in the field of education,
• Building and sharing measurement protocols and research tools for education research,
• Developing and structuring a network of partners, researchers, and professionals who are interested in experimental research in education.

IDEE is a multidisciplinary programme, bringing together experts in cognitive science, educational science, neuroscience, economics, sociology, and psychology. Institutional stakeholders from the French Ministry of Education are closely involved in the programme’s activities. The programme’s scientific coordinator is Marc Gurgand (Paris School of Economics and École Normale Supérieure), with prominent researchers like Esther Duflo (MIT, J-PAL) and Stanislas Dehaene (Collège de France) participating in governance.

The IDEE team operates within J-PAL Europe, which manages the programme's operational coordination. J-PAL (the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab) is a global research center anchored in a network of over 1,000 professors conducting randomized impact evaluations. J-PAL Europe, the European office, is hosted at the Paris School of Economics. Currently, eight members of the J-PAL Europe office are primarily dedicated to the IDEE programme.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision and in collaboration with the Senior Manager in charge of the strategic development of the IDEE programme, the Public Policy and Communications Associate will be responsible for:

• Supporting the development and delivery of training modules for the IDEE programme
• Training programme “Where is the Evidence?” and “Introduction to Impact Evaluations”: Assist in identifying potential participants, organizing, and facilitating these trainings (both in-person and online) as needed.
• Monitoring the MOOC “Evidence-Informed Education: An Introduction to Impact Evaluations”: Manage the forum, certificate distribution, and promote the MOOC through relevant channels.
• Supporting J-PAL Europe training sessions or incubators: Assist with organization and facilitation on an as-needed basis.
• Assisting with the development of new partnerships for the IDEE programme
• Provide support to the SeniorManager for planning, organizing, and following up on meetings with educational authorities and other programme partners.
• Assist the team with tracking outreach efforts and partnerships with education stakeholders, and independently develop new connections where relevant.
• Attend conferences and conduct outreach to identify new opportunities for IDEE.
• Contributing to the creation of written content to disseminate evidence in education for IDEE and J-PAL Europe
• Draft summaries on educational research findings relevant to the IDEE programme and J-PAL Europe, as needed.
• Produce blog posts on topics pertinent to IDEE and J-PAL Europe on an occasional basis.
• Supporting the development and implementation of the IDEE programme’s communication strategy:

Social Media: Develop strategy and plan LinkedIn and Twitter campaigns; draft posts in line with IDEE’s objectives; manage accounts and cross-post content, working closely with J-PAL Europe’s social media lead and IDEE consortium members.

Design: Create and update visuals (flyers, PPT presentations, infographics, etc.) and videos for the IDEE programme.

Press: Support press outreach and follow-up, including structuring outreach efforts. Monitor topics of interest in education, primarily in France and more broadly at the European level.

Organizing events for the IDEE programme:

• Research dissemination webinar series: Coordinate programming, speaker relations, communication, logistics, and collaboration with Canopé.
• Support the organization of other events with the French Ministry of Education or research institutions, including communication and logistical support.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Master’s degree in social sciences, political science, or economics, with an understanding of experimental methods.
• Native-level proficiency in French and excellent command of English.
• Outstanding writing and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of, or strong interest in, education research and the French educational system.
• Familiarity with experimental research, particularly randomized impact evaluations, is an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multi-partner environment.
• Visual communication and design skills (e.g., Canva).

Position Open to:

• Permanent public sector employees
• Contractual employees (fixed-term contract until June 30, 2026, with a gross annual salary between €37k and €40k, depending on experience)
