New affiliated professors join the J-PAL network
Eight oustanding researchers recently joined J-PAL’s academic network: Peter Bergman and Eric Verhoogen at Columbia University, Saurabh Bhargava at Carnegie Mellon University, Clément de Chaisemartin at University of California, Santa Barbara, Will Dobbie at Princeton University, Bill Evans at University of Notre Dame, Nathaniel Hendren at Harvard University, and Wes Yin at University of California, Los Angeles. Their varied research interests range from children’s language acquisition to racial bias in criminal justice systems and technology adoption in soccer ball factories.
Peter Bergman
Peter Bergman is an assistant professor of economics and education at Teachers College, Columbia University. He studies how information problems affect human capital decision making.
Saurabh Bhargava
Saurabh Bhargava is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Carnegie Mellon University, an academic affiliate of the Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics (CHIBE) at the University of Pennsylvania, and the Founder and Co-Director of the BEDR Policy Lab.
Clément de Chaisemartin
Clément de Chaisemartin is an assistant professor of economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His fields of research are econometrics, economics of education, and health economics.
Will Dobbie
Will Dobbie is an assistant professor of economics and public affairs at Princeton University and a research fellow at the Education Innovation Laboratory at Harvard University. His research focuses on the causes and consequences of poverty in the United States.
William Evans
William Evans is the Keough-Hesburgh Professor of Economics at the University of Notre Dame. His principle research interests are in applied microeconomics and include topics in the economics of education, public finance, and health economics.
Nathaniel Hendren
Nathaniel Hendren is a professor of economics at Harvard University and a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His research lies at the intersection of theoretical and empirical work in public economics, focusing on a range of topics including insurance markets, welfare measurement, and intergenerational mobility.
Eric Verhoogen
Eric Verhoogen is a Professor of Economics and International Affairs at Columbia University and Vice Dean of Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs. His main research area is industrial development—firms, innovation, productivity, trade, industrial policy, and labor markets in developing countries.
Wes Yin
Wes Yin is an associate professor of public policy and management at the University of California, Los Angeles. His research interests are in the areas of health, economic development, industrial organizations, and public finance.
