Bulbul Butail

Bulbul Butail is currently working as a Policy Associate at J-PAL South Asia, bringing a robust background in development economics and political science. Bulbul has a Master’s degree from Sciences Po Paris, where she specialised in economics and public policy.

In her previous role as a Sovereign Credit Analyst at AXA France, she conducted detailed analyses on economic, political, and environmental policies on several emerging markets. Her policy research experience also includes working with the Indian National Congress over two sessions of the Parliament.

Bulbul is passionate about exploring the role of institutions in shaping the development trajectories of countries. She is particularly interested in using data-backed policies to address socioeconomic and environmental challenges faced by developing economies as well as in research at the intersection of economic development and environmental sustainability.
