The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) is a global research center working to reduce poverty by ensuring that policy is informed by scientific evidence. Anchored by a network of more than 900 researchers at universities around the world, J-PAL conducts randomized impact evaluations to answer critical questions in the fight against poverty.

Our affiliated professors are based at over 120 universities and conduct randomized evaluations around the world to design, evaluate, and improve programs and policies aimed at reducing poverty. They set their own research agendas, raise funds to support their evaluations, and work with J-PAL staff on research, policy outreach, and training.
Our research, policy, and training work is fundamentally better when it is informed by a broad range of perspectives.

Edward Asiedu is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School. His research is centered around topics in development economics (firms, agriculture, education, and health), labor economics, behavioral and experimental economics, and the design and impact evaluation of development projects. Edward is also a Co-Founder of AKWAABA Lab in Ghana, a lab focused on using randomized control trials (RCTs) and lab-in-the-field experiments to improve understanding of the challenges faced by the poor and test potential solutions. Edward received his PhD in Economics from the University of Gottingen.
Edward has served as a lecturer at J-PAL training events in Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa organized as part of J-PAL's Evaluating Social Programs course.
