Addressing Homelessness and Housing Stability in North America

Our work is guided by an academic literature review of the existing evidence, which summarizes lessons from randomized evaluations of homelessness programs and outlines areas for future research. Key findings from the academic paper are summarized in J-PAL's Evidence Review, "Reducing and Preventing Homelessness: Lessons from Randomized Evaluations."

Through our Housing Stability Evaluation Incubator, we support organizations with developing randomized evaluations that expand the base of rigorous evidence on strategies for addressing homelessness. Eligible organizations are invited to apply for pro bono technical assistance from J-PAL’s staff of policy and research experts to develop an evaluation idea, flexible proposal development funding of up to $50,000, and connections with J-PAL’s network of leading academic researchers.

Researchers in J-PAL North America's network who are seeking funding for a randomized evaluation or pilot study related to homelessness or housing stability are encouraged to submit a proposal to one of the Social Policy Research Initiative's requests for proposals (RFPs).
