Senior Manager of Finance and Operations, J-PAL Global
Carlos Guzman is a Senior Manager of Finance and Operations at J-PAL Global at MIT, where he oversees the finance and research operations of J-PAL’s Agriculture Sector, including initiatives such as the Agricultural Technology Adoption Initiative (ATAI), the Digital Agricultural Innovations and Services Initiative (DAISI), and The UM6P-J-PAL Agricultural Lab for Africa (UJALA).
In addition, Carlos manages the financial operations of J-PAL Faculty Director Ben Olken’s research portfolio, which includes the Social Protection Initiative (SPI). He leads financial and strategic planning activities, implements system improvement processes, and oversees various ad hoc projects for the J-PAL Global Office.
Prior to joining J-PAL, Carlos gained extensive experience in managing finance and research operations within higher education and government institutions, including MIT, Northeastern University, and the State of Rhode Island House of Representatives Finance Committee.
Carlos is currently pursuing the Advanced Certificate for Executives (ACE) in Management, Innovation, and Technology at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He holds a Master of Arts in Development Economics from the University of Göttingen in Germany, a Master of Science in International Affairs from Northeastern University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Boston.
