Our affiliated professors are based at over 120 universities and conduct randomized evaluations around the world to design, evaluate, and improve programs and policies aimed at reducing poverty. They set their own research agendas, raise funds to support their evaluations, and work with J-PAL staff on research, policy outreach, and training.

Research Operations Associate, J-PAL Middle East and North Africa
Youssr Abbas is a Research Operations Associate at J-PAL Middle East and North Africa. Since joining J-PAL in 2023, She has been working on the evaluation of the impact of changing the title of work opportunities offered to women from “employment” to “volunteering” on increasing female labor force and whether volunteering can be used as a tool to increase women’s empowerment. The evaluation is done in collaboration with the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development and Life Makers.
Youssr is a graduate of the Faculty of Literature, English Department, Minya University. Prior to joining J-PAL, she worked as an English Teacher at various schools.
