Lucas Siqueira Simões

Senior Research Associate, J-PAL Latin America and the Caribbean

Lucas Siqueira Simões is a senior research associate at J-PAL LAC, where he works on investigating the impact of PIX on access to credit, formalization of jobs, and profits of small businesses. In this project, Lucas will conduct interviews with individual microentrepreneurs (MEIs), seeking to understand the consequences of the use of PIX in the daily lives of these entrepreneurs. In addition, he will also work with microdata on the use of PIX and access to credit, in a partnership with the Brazilian Central Bank.

Lucas is a master's student in Public Statistics at the National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE), of the IBGE. He also works as a researcher at the Directorate of Studies and Social Policies, of the Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA) - which develops studies on poverty and inequality in Brazil - as well as at the Center for Applied Science in Public Security (CCAS), of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV).
