Our affiliated professors are based at over 120 universities and conduct randomized evaluations around the world to design, evaluate, and improve programs and policies aimed at reducing poverty. They set their own research agendas, raise funds to support their evaluations, and work with J-PAL staff on research, policy outreach, and training.

Research Associate, J-PAL South Asia
Shivam Singh is a Research Associate at J-PAL South Asia, where he is part of the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) Scale-Up Project in Ahmedabad. This project, a collaboration with the Gujarat Pollution Control Board and EPIC-India, aims to design, implement, and evaluate a market-based trading system for particulate matter emissions to promote sustainable environmental regulation across Gujarat.
Before joining J-PAL, Shivam gained valuable experience as a Management Consultant at Accenture, where he led initiatives to improve operational efficiency and ensure quality assurance across sectors, including telecommunications, insurance, and life sciences. Shivam also worked part-time as a Research Analyst on the Scientific Labs Management Project. This project aimed to optimize lab productivity and workforce training by examining the organizational practices within research labs, which are supported by substantial federal funding.
Shivam holds a Master’s in Economics from the University of St Andrews and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hindu College, University of Delhi.
