Our affiliated professors are based at over 120 universities and conduct randomized evaluations around the world to design, evaluate, and improve programs and policies aimed at reducing poverty. They set their own research agendas, raise funds to support their evaluations, and work with J-PAL staff on research, policy outreach, and training.

Senior Research Associate, J-PAL América Latina e Caribe
Silvana Leiva is a Research Associate at J-PAL LAC where she works on the management and implementation of the pilot project for the sensitization of men and prevention of gender-based violence in Mexico City, in collaboration with the Secretariat for Women of Mexico City. This project seeks to evaluate how effective gender sensitization therapies are for men who, although they have not been convicted of violence, may at some point exercise it towards women close to them.
Prior to joining J PAL, Silvana has gathered experience in both the public and private sectors and in Civil Society doing research consulting, designing studies, and implementing policies related to the use of open data, respect for Human Rights, gender equity, and the promotion of policies for equality. Silvana has a Master's degree in Administration and Public Policy from the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE) in Mexico, and a Bachelor's degree in Communication from the Universidad de San Andrés in Argentina.
