Research and Policy Manager, J-PAL South Asia

Mayank Bhushan is a Research and Policy Manager at J-PAL South Asia, where he collaborates with researchers, policymakers, and non-governmental organizations to scale evidence-based programs that improve development outcomes. He leads the monitoring and evaluation efforts for the Every Child Counts (or Math-Games) initiative, an innovative math curriculum designed to enhance foundational numeracy skills in children. 

Before his current role, Mayank served as a Senior Research Associate in the Innovations in Data and Experiments for Action (IDEA) Initiative at J-PAL South Asia, where he worked with government departments to improve the quality and usability of administrative data systems and assisted researchers in using this data to design evidence-based interventions. Earlier in his career, Mayank worked at Central Square Foundation, where he implemented program evaluations for statewide early-grade education programs in India. Prior to transitioning to the development sector, Mayank managed data-driven projects across diverse fields such as management consulting, real estate, and scientific communications. 

Mayank holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus.
