Our affiliated professors are based at over 120 universities and conduct randomized evaluations around the world to design, evaluate, and improve programs and policies aimed at reducing poverty. They set their own research agendas, raise funds to support their evaluations, and work with J-PAL staff on research, policy outreach, and training.

Associate Director of Human Resources, J-PAL Global
Poonam Bali is the Associate Director of Human Resources at J-PAL Global. AS ADHR, she is responsible for managing all aspects of human resources for J-PAL’s Global office. She is also responsible for developing HR policy in partnership with senior leadership followed by its effective implementation and collaborates closely with MIT’s SHASS and central J-PAL offices across the globe.
Prior to joining J-PAL, she has over 14 years of experience in organizational design, talent and performance management, change management, and leadership development. She has successfully led HR initiatives working with Fortune 500/100/10 companies such as Colgate Palmolive, GE, Amazon, Boston Consulting Group, and CARRIER. Poonam is known for her ability to drive impactful organizational growth, foster leadership, and build high-performing teams through strategic HR practices, making her a trusted partner in navigating complex business challenges.
