Our affiliated professors are based at over 120 universities and conduct randomized evaluations around the world to design, evaluate, and improve programs and policies aimed at reducing poverty. They set their own research agendas, raise funds to support their evaluations, and work with J-PAL staff on research, policy outreach, and training.

Research Manager, J-PAL Latin America and the Caribbean
Javiera Atala is a Research Manager at J-PAL LAC where she works in the "Daycare Deserts" project funded by Yale University, focusing on tracking and analyzing early childhood educational establishments in Chile. Her responsibilities include coordinating and supervising the field team, developing data collection tools, analyzing and cleaning databases, and preparing reports for local authorities and the research team.
Before joining J-PAL, Javiera held the position of Head of Growth and COO at TetherEd, where she directed operational and marketing strategies to improve organizational efficiency and growth. She also worked as a Growth Manager and Conversion Rate Owner at Banco Itaú, optimizing conversion rates and increasing ROI through continuous testing and analysis of the company's digital assets.
Javiera holds a Diploma in Digital Marketing from the University of Chile and a degree in Commercial Engineering from the Technical University Federico Santa María.
