Syrian Refugee Life Study

The Syrian Refugee Life Study (S-RLS) is a pioneering effort to systematically survey and follow a large, representative sample of Syrian refugees over time. Covering 2,500 households registered with UNHCR in Jordan, the study includes refugees in camps and host communities. S-RLS collects comprehensive data on economic well-being, education, social attitudes, and mental health, tracking changes as refugees settle in Jordan, return to Syria, or move to third countries. Now extending into its fifth year, the study will launch a second in-person round and expand to focus on adolescent Syrians. This unique longitudinal panel provides invaluable insights into refugee life, capturing both spatial and temporal trends. S-RLS data, publicly available on the Harvard Database, is a significant public good, supporting novel and policy-relevant research, such as studies on the impact of conflict on refugees' welfare.
