Psychological Support for Ukrainian Refugees in Germany

Poor mental health among displaced populations is a widespread problem with consequences for their well-being and labor market integration. Even where psychiatric help is available, uptake is limited by fear of stigma, shame, and informational and language barriers. This study focuses on Ukrainian refugees in Germany and seeks to identify effective strategies to boost the uptake of mental health services among vulnerable groups. It tests social media-based video campaigns featuring either a well-known celebrity or a relatable refugee sharing personal experiences. The goal is to see if these videos can overcome barriers and encourage more individuals to seek the mental health support they need, ultimately improving labor market participation and health.
