Anchored by a network of more than 1,000 researchers at universities around the world, J-PAL conducts randomized impact evaluations to answer critical questions in the fight against poverty.

Our affiliated professors are based at over 120 universities and conduct randomized evaluations around the world to design, evaluate, and improve programs and policies aimed at reducing poverty. They set their own research agendas, raise funds to support their evaluations, and work with J-PAL staff on research, policy outreach, and training.

Nicolás Ajzenman is an Assistant Professor of Economics at McGill University. He is an Applied Microeconomist, working at the intersection of development economics, behavioral economics, and political economy. Prior to joining McGill, Nicolás was an Assistant Professor at the Sao Paulo School of Economics-FGV and a Visiting Scholar at the Behavioral Economics Group of the Inter-American Development Bank. He is also a Research Affiliate at the Institute of Labor Economics. Nicolás received his PhD from Sciences Po and a Master in Public Administration in International Development from Harvard University.
