Our affiliated professors are based at over 120 universities and conduct randomized evaluations around the world to design, evaluate, and improve programs and policies aimed at reducing poverty. They set their own research agendas, raise funds to support their evaluations, and work with J-PAL staff on research, policy outreach, and training.

Research Manager, J-PAL South Asia
Akshay Kannan is a Research Manager with J-PAL South Asia where he is part of the Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) Project, a collaborative project between the Gujarat Pollution Control Board, EPIC-India and J-PAL South Asia at IFMR, to implement and evaluate a pilot ETS for the particulate matter from industrial emissions.
Before his Masters, he worked as a Test Engineer in the Air-Cargo industry where he ensured the quality check of the product delivered. During his Masters, Akshay had associated with the policy team of Mahindra Group of Industries to conduct an independent study on the farm mechanization subsidy disbursement challenges in 2019. Prior to joining J-PAL, Akshay was working as a Research Fellow & Academic Tutor with Jindal School of Government & Public Policy where he was part of a research on Multidimensional Poverty.
Akshay holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Kerala University and a Master’s in Public Policy from Jindal School of Government & Public Policy at O.P. Jindal Global University.
