Hope Michelson is an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She studies the microeconomic dynamics of poverty and food security in low-income countries with a special focus on the economics of agricultural investment, production, and sales. One of Michelson’s key subjects is the interaction of international development efforts with local and large-scale agribusiness.
Michelson received a PhD in Applied Economics from Cornell University. She is also an associate at the Harris School of Public Policy, University of Chicago, and a non-resident fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
