Maria Sedhom

Maria Sedhom is a Senior Research Associate at J-PAL Middle East and North Africa, and a recipient of the 2023 J-STAR Innovaitive Solutions Award where she works on evaluating the impact of providing jobs and training opportunities on irregular migration in Egypt, in collaboration with the Egyptian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency.

Prior to joining J-PAL in 2022, she was serving as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto, and a Client Service Representative at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

Maria holds a Master's degree in Economics and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Biology for Health Sciences, both from the University of Toronto, graduating with high distinction. Her educational background reflects her interests in both economics and health sciences, and how these fields intersect in addressing global challenges.
