Aimee Barnes
Senior Policy Associate, J-PAL Global
Aimee Barnes is a Senior Policy Associate at J-PAL Global where she manages the Health sector. In this role, she collaborates with governments, NGOs, academics and others to apply evidence to policy and programming decisions, including by synthesizing research results into actionable policy briefs. In addition, she supports the Crime, Violence, and Conflict sector and previously managed the Crime and Violence Initiative to support the generation of new experimental evidence on what works to combat crime, violence, and conflict in low- and middle-income countries. From 2020-2024, Aimee also supported the Political Economy and Governance sector.
Prior to joining J-PAL in 2020, Aimee worked as a research analyst at a technology consulting firm where she monitored changes in international telecommunications policy. Aimee has also worked as a graduate-level econometrics teaching assistant and as an economist trainee with the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Aimee holds a master’s degree in international affairs from the University of California San Diego’s School of Global Policy and Strategy where she graduated with her degree program’s Academic Achievement Award and Dean’s Teaching Award. She received her bachelor’s degree in international economics from the University of California San Diego and graduated magna cum laude.
