Health Care Delivery Partnership Development Conference

Health care spending represents 17 percent of the US economy, but there is relatively little rigorous evidence on the impact of different innovations in health care delivery.

To help spur more evaluations in this area, J-PAL North America brought together more than seventy practitioners, policymakers, and researchers for a partnership development conference in Cambridge, MA. Peter Orszag, former Director of the US Office of Management and Budget, gave the keynote address, highlighting that "There is an enormous evidence gap in policy and J-PAL North America is working to close that gap in what is perhaps the most important area: health care."

Jeffrey Brenner, Executive Director of the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers, spoke about the need for randomized evaluations in population health, citing his current work serving health care "super utilizers" in Camden, NJ. Amy Finkelstein (MIT), Co-Scientific Director of J-PAL North America, presented an overview of the existing evidence in health care delivery and highlighted promising avenues for testing programs and policies.

These talks set the stage for a second day of one-on-one conversations to help participants build new partnerships to evaluate innovative health care delivery programs using RCTs. Learn more about J-PAL's US Health Care Delivery Initiative.
