Research Assistant, Mozambique Public Health Project - University of Michigan
Professor Dean Yang is hiring a Research Assistant (RA) on a research project that promotes HIV testing and adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) in Mozambique. The RA will contribute to the research project in a variety of different ways, including data management; geographic information systems (GIS) work; fieldwork management. RAs do not have to have prior experience in all needed technical skills and can learn on the job. This position may be remote.
The RA will also gain experience working with other investigators at University of Michigan (James Riddell, Tanya Rosenblat, and Basit Zafar), as well as James Allen (IFPRI) and Hang Yu (Peking U.).
Fluency or near-fluency in Portuguese is required for this position.

- Your interest in development economics research, highlighting overlaps with the research project.
- Quantitative coursework in economics (particularly econometrics), and any related disciplines such as statistics, engineering, or computer science.
- Background in statistical software (e.g., R, Stata), GIS (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), and Data-collection Software (e.g., Survey CTO).
- Prior RA experience in economics or related fields (if any).
- Time availability: start date and preference for part-time vs. full-time (both will be considered).
- Future plans to apply to Ph.D. or Master’s Programs in Economics.
- Knowledge of English and Portuguese.
