Our affiliated professors are based at over 120 universities and conduct randomized evaluations around the world to design, evaluate, and improve programs and policies aimed at reducing poverty. They set their own research agendas, raise funds to support their evaluations, and work with J-PAL staff on research, policy outreach, and training.

Research Associate, J-PAL South Asia
Amitav is a Research Associate with the Social Networks Lab at J-PAL South Asia. His work focuses on understanding the socio-economic behavior of vulnerable populations in rural Odisha, particularly how they respond to shocks.
Prior to joining J-PAL, Amitav worked with a policy NGO in Odisha, where he contributed to projects on technical education and vocational training, closely collaborating with the Government of Odisha. His areas of interest include labor economics and its intersection with economic development.
He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Hyderabad and a BA (Honors) in Economics from Christ University, Bangalore.
