Maha Balbaa
Research Associate, J-PAL Middle East and North Africa
Maha Balbaa is a Research Associate at J-PAL Middle East and North Africa where she works on evaluating the impact of Digital Saving and Loans Associations in empowering women, alleviating poverty, and improving well-being.
Prior to joining J-PAL, she worked on a project between the British University in Egypt and the UNFCCC Secretariat through the Nairobi Work Program under the auspices of the UN Climate Change and Universities Partnership Program to analyze the socioeconomic implications of land degradation in Egypt's Delta Region. Additionally, she has experience as a Research Analyst at Egypt Oil & Gas Company and as a Research Consultant at Promising Egypt Company.
Maha holds a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the British University in Egypt and London South Bank University. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in development economics through a joint program between Cairo University and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
